Web Design Portfolio
I've been building websites for my own amusement since 1998 (my very first site actually remained live until the demise of Geocities in 2009); though it was not until after I graduated that I decided to pursue it seriously.
I have a deep and abiding love of well-written CSS, and am at the time of writing dead excited about the possibilities of CSS3.
I've been a full time front-end developer for a small London web agency since March 2010, and also do some very, very infrequent freelance work. Below are a few examples of the latter.
Commissioned Sites
Rushbrook Cottage | Tintern, Monmouthshire, Wales
Following on from Marion Derrett's art website (see below), I also built a site to showcase her holiday cottage, Rushbrook.
The site was designed by me (using pastel artwork and photographs by Marion), and was built in WordPress - my first time using the CMS for an actual purpose rather than for random experiments.
The site launched in February.
Marion Derrett - Portrait and Landscape Artist
An absolute joy of a project - it was fantastic to have so many great images to work with, and I'm really pleased with how it all worked out.
The site launched in August 2009.
Update 23/02/2010: The index page now has an animated slideshow! Special thanks to Jon Raasch for providing the JavaScript.
Wye Valley Cakes
Wye Valley Cakes is a small company based in Herefordshire. They wanted to replace their existing site's generic template with a more personal design.
I was given a set of photographs of pink and white iced cupcakes, which provided the inspiration for the colour scheme.
The site launched in February 2009 (though alas, the background broke some time after being handed over to the CMS people, who never did get around to fixing it...).
